Meaning
English
A stock adjustment is a manual correction to a product's stock quantity, with a reason, when the system figure does not match reality.
Roman Urdu
Stock adjustment kisi product ke stock me hath se durusti hai, wajah ke saath, jab system ka figure asal se na mile.
Also called inventory adjustment, stock correction, stock write-off.
Example
After a count, a shop finds 3 extra packs of a detergent that were received but never entered. The owner adds 3 with the reason "found in godown", and the change shows in the item's history.
How it works
Adjustments are necessary but risky, because they can hide theft or mistakes. Every adjustment should record who made it, when, the quantity and the reason, and the value at cost. Only senior staff should be able to make them, and the owner should review adjustments regularly, especially large ones or repeated ones on the same item.
Use the right tool for each case: a count for counting differences, the damage process for broken or expired goods, a transfer for moving stock, and an adjustment only for what is left.
In Nafaa
Stock adjustments in Nafaa record the reason and value and appear in each product's stock movements. Changing stock through bulk import or bulk edit is posted as an adjustment too, and needs the stock adjustments permission.
